To say that the ketogenic diet is trendy would be an understatement.

Several studies have shown that this diet knows to have low fat, but high carb content plays a significant role in epilepsy, diabetes, and weight loss (1, 2, 3).

Studies have also shown that the ketogenic diet may benefit Alzheimer’s disease, some forms of cancers, and other ailments.

However, there’s still a need for further research to determine its efficacy and safety in the long term.

A typical ketogenic diet restricts carb intake to 20–50g per day. As challenging as this may seem, one can fit many nutritious foods into this eating pattern.

I’ll share examples of some of the best keto foods in this article.

However, before we proceed to learn the best foods for keto, let’s briefly examine the keto flu, what it is, and how it presents in the human body.

The keto flu is a group of symptoms that affects a person when they first start the keto diet.
