Body aches and fatigue are common in both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, but research indicates that each has unique main symptoms and underlying causes.

Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes ongoing pain all over your body. People with fibromyalgia often feel very tired, even when they haven’t done much.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also called ME/CFS, is a condition where you feel extremely tired and may have aches and pains.

Since these conditions seem so similar, it can be hard to tell which one you have — or if you might have both.

Exploring the Connection Between Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Experts have noticed that fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) share many symptoms, leading to debates about whether they are two different conditions or the same one.

A 2020 study highlights that there are differences in body chemistry, genes, and physical functions that suggest they are separate conditions.

However, both conditions are still not fully understood, mainly affect women, and there may still be a connection between them.
