Everyone is talking about Lemon water. It is the rage these days.

Many restaurants serve lemon water routinely. Some people start their day with lemon water rather than tea or coffee. Lemons are delicious, no doubt, but is it necessary to add them to water?

You see, most evidence supporting the addition of lemon to water is purely anecdotal. Not much research has been done on lemon water, but there are tons of research on the health benefits of water and lemon, respectively.

1. Water promotes hydration

The Food and Nutrition Board (1) states that women should get no less than 91 ounces of water per day while men should get no less than 125 ounces. This water may come from both food and drinks.

Water is excellent for hydration. However, some people don’t fancy the taste of water. So, adding lemon can enhance its flavor, which will help you to drink more.
