Coffee or Tea — Why not Both?

Very few beverages have made waves worldwide as coffee and tea. They’re pretty popular. Between both, black tea appears to be the most sought after. Available data shows that black tea accounts for at least 78% of teas produced and consumed (1).

Both beverages provide nearly similar benefits. But then, they still have a few differences.

This article will compare coffee and tea to decide which is best for you.

What are the contents of caffeine?

Caffeine is the most consumed and studied stimulant globally (2, 3).

Caffeine is present in many beverages, including tea and coffee. It has both beneficial and adverse effects on the health of humans.

It is important to note that the caffeine content may vary depending on the serving size, brewing time, or method in which it is prepared. Nevertheless, the caffeine content in coffee maybe twice that in an equal serving of tea.

Humans are advised to take 400 mg of caffeine per day. For example, an 8-ounce cup of coffee (240 ml) contains 95 mg of caffeine. On the other hand, an 8-ounce serving of black tea contains 47mg of caffeine (4, 5, 6).
