People with fibromyalgia feel pain differently than others, often experiencing widespread pain that can disrupt their sleep, make them very tired, and cause mental stress.
If you have fibromyalgia, you might have trouble focusing or experience anxiety attacks. This can make it hard to do everyday tasks and can make driving dangerous.
Is it possible to drive if you have fibromyalgia?
If you have fibromyalgia, you might still be able to drive, but it could be challenging. On days when your pain is terrible, it might be hard to focus or move well enough to drive safely.
Before getting behind the wheel, ask yourself:
- Can I stay awake while driving?
- How will my current symptoms impact my ability to drive?
- What will I do if my symptoms get worse while I’m driving?
- How might my medications affect my driving?
